Woo-Woo "comic covers" series
A few years back I did a series of 36 sketchbook paintings,
in the form of imaginary comic covers or posters, with little
eyeball characters in a broken-down world. The guy with the mystic
pointy hat is Eyewiz. The scenes look like they tell stories,
with conflicts and discoveries, but they also stay pretty ambiguous,
to keep my interest. Here's the first couple paintings:
WOO-WOO #2 (Thought Forms), 1996
pencil and acrylic on colored paper, 8.5x11 inches
WOO-WOO #1 (Skull and Mirror), 1996
pencil and acrylic on colored paper, 8.5x11 inches
sketchbook painting, used as cover to WOO-WOO mini-comic
Pre-Woo-Woo paintings
THE TEMPTATION OF ST. MICKEY DOG, 1995
acrylic on paper on canvas, 30x24 inches
This was painted from an unusually clear automatic drawing
I found in my sketchbook. Pure luck.
